  1. I Reffed a couple of college games with Mike back in the day and the best part about Mike was the ride to and from the game site.
    Very funny and great wit.
He was one of a kind and will be missed.

  2. Jan & Family,
So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family. Mike was a true ambassador to football both at the collegiate and high school level. The entire officiating community will miss Mike’s quick wit and dry sense of humor. The road trips to and from our college games will be hard to forget with Mike either harassing the van driver or bitching and complaining the some of us had to stop and take a pee. But Mike would always take the opportunity to light one up at the rest area. I can visualize Mike getting to the gates of heaven and throwing his yellow flag at the feet of St. Peter for delay of game or holding for any holdup of his entry into heaven.
May God bless you and your family and place his healing hands upon you to help to ease your pain.

  3. I can echo the sentiments of others on Mike’s lively conversations on the road trips. He’d have an opinion on most topics and would rarely hold back. Once told me he played defensive tackle for Auburn in the final season of their rival Bama’s coach Bear Bryant. Might’ve been pulling my leg. Players enjoyed his witty banter on the field. But his love and respect for this game were never in question. Mally was an original and will be missed.
