Longtime DMOA member and retired Big 8 football official Bob Holliday will be the featured speaker for the DMOA Annual Banquet set for May 20, 2024.
Bob Holliday attended Roosevelt High School and was an accomplished athlete in both football and wrestling having served as captain for both. He was awarded all-conference and All-State honors in football and was inducted into the Roosevelt Hall of Fame in 2018. He attended Drake University on a football scholarship and graduated in 1965 with a BA in Political Science and in 1968 with a Juris Doctor Degree. Holliday joined a local law firm in 1969 and one of his greatest accomplishments was receiving the Ronald Grefe Pro Bono Publico Award from the Iowa State Bar Association.
Bob followed his passion for playing sports by officiating both high school and college football, including nine bowl games and one Rose Bowl game. Having lost his father during combat in WWII, he followed his passion for WWII military history serving as Board Chair of the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum and as President of the Iowa National Guard Memorial Association for more than 20 years. Bob can also be credited with mentoring many young officials and encouraging them to move up the ranks.
The dinner includes steak and a few side dishes, Beer on tap is included, a cash bar will also be available. Anyone is welcome to attend.
