Note, this is joint effort between The Heart of America Athletic Conference, the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, and the Des Moines Officials Association.
This year, the clinic will be held in conjunction with Spring scrimmages at two college campuses: Graceland University in Lamoni and Grand View University in Des Moines. The clinic will begin at Graceland on Friday, April 10 and continue Saturday at Grand View on Saturday, April 11. This unique two-location format will offer both on-field instruction and classroom training.
Check-in on the Graceland Campus in Lamoni begins at 3:30 PM, followed by classroom instruction focusing on gameday preparation for officiating at every level. The clinic continues with live on-field instruction during the Graceland Yellowjackets scrimmage, followed by post-scrimmage remarks and comments by veteran NCAA and NAIA officials.
Friday evening, the clinic moves north to Des Moines, where clinic sponsors will host a social hour at Buzzard Billy’s in downtown Des Moines. The social begins at 8 PM.
The clinic resumes with check-in Saturday morning, April 11 on the Grand View University Campus at 7:30 AM. General session presentations will focus on expectations for officiating at the small college level, gameday preparation, mechanics by position and on-field communication. Position breakout sessions precede on-field work during the Grand View University Vikings’ scrimmage. Post-scrimmage review and ample time for Q&A will wrap up the clinic by 1:00 PM.
