High school football season in Iowa begins in the last week of August and concludes late October, playoffs continue into early November.
Format: Varsity high school games are assigned by crews of five officials: Referee, Umpire, Head Linesman, Line Judge and Back Judge. Subvarsity games may use 4-official mechanics.
