As you recall, this 8th grade battle of cross-town rivals has an A, B and 5th quarter segments. Annually, I award game balls to the smallest roster editor player on each team. The award is referred to as “The Biggest Dog” award, where I reference Mark Twain’s famous quote, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the heart in the dog.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both teams and coaches meet at the 50 yard line after the game, where I share a sportsmanship message and pride in the community that boasts 2 strong teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably at the top of my officiating experiences each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
